Gerard Way is the lead singer of the popular band My Chemical Romance. Watch as two world’s collide when two very different people meet.

My heart is racing as I glance at myself in the dressing room mirror. I had just finished putting on my make-up for I was about to perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto at Lincoln Center. I stand up and look at myself to see if my dress is put on right. I smile to myself at my dress choice. It is a red silk evening gown with corset style ribbons forming a low back. I went with my mother a week ago to buy the dress on 5th Ave. It was quite an experience for me because I am from a small town in France and I always dreamed of coming to the big city. After being satisfied with my appearance, I grabbed my music and started to go over my piece. A few minutes later, a woman with a walkie-talkie came in to let me know if I am ready. I said yes and followed her out the door. We went through a small dark passageway behind and under the stage towards the backstage door. I could slightly hear the humming of people chattering up on the floor above, awaiting my performance. I started to get slightly nervous, because I was fairly new to performing in the U.S. You see, I was born in a really small town. At the age of 3, my father bought me a small upright piano for my birthday. Yes, I know, what kind of person would buy a three year old a piano? Well, my parents would. I guess they thought it would be a good education for me and it would make me intelligent. Nonetheless, I quickly picked it up and started having piano lessons. By the time I was 8, I began playing Chopin and Mozart. By that time, my parents saw that I had a talent for the piano, so they enrolled me in local competitions and concerts and soon enough I was noticed around my town and later out to Paris. I became pretty popular in Paris and I decided, after graduating high school, to attend the Paris Conservatory of Music. After I graduated, I continued performing concerts and just a few months ago, I got a call from the New York Philharmonic asking me if I could perform in NYC. I was now 26 and I couldn't be happier. This is a major turning point for a classical musician. So, I happily took the offer and a month later, I was packed and ready to go. I was given a room at the Pennsylvania Hotel right by Madison Square Garden. I was thrilled for this because I thought I might be able to see a few concerts there while I am here. I am not just interested in classical music. I have another side to me too. Ever since 2001, with the twin towers falling in New York, I fell in love with a band called My Chemical Romance. I loved their lyrics, harmonies, and rhythm. Of course I have to say that I immediately fell in love with Gerard Way. His looks are so dark but at the same time heavenly. As for myself, I am naturally pale with black long hair that goes down to my waist. It is layered, because if I dont layer it, my hair turns into a mane. I have light blue eyes and I am considered a petit person. My english is fairly well, but I am getting much better now that I am in the States. I always wanted to have purple hair and a lip piercing, but I thought it better not to, because of my classical career. Anyways, back to the concert. After waiting a few more minutes for the woman to cue me on the stage, I was finally walking out on the large bright stage, with who knows how many people staring at me. The lights were so bright, I could only see the front row. People immediately started to clap and I smiled, took a bow, and got settled at the Steinway grand piano. After that I nodded to the conducter who started the intro to the concerto and the magic began.
